Hi Carmen,
I just finished your book, and I must say, I am a writer who has run out of words. What I read moved me to tears. You’ve inspired me to support you and celebrate your achievements. Wow, wow, wow! It’s a noble and powerful piece. You are a truly gifted writer, and I believe your work will help heal many others who have gone through similar experiences. The most powerful image for me was the one in the yellow dress.

Carmen, I thought your book was a tremendous work of art. I find it simply wonderful how you narrate your testimony, transforming it into a process of personal growth and support for others. You helped me understand child abuse, its consequences, and the methods we can use to overcome it, with God at the center of our lives. Simply excellent.

You poured your whole soul into this book, and I commend your courage in sharing your traumatic experiences. I am glad that through writing, you were able to heal yourself and regain your voice. There are so many people out there who have faced similar experiences of child sexual abuse and may find the courage to confront their demons because of your work. Your book will serve as a tool for many to liberate themselves from the trauma that has held them captive for too long.
The way you wove in Holy Scriptures and current research gives your writing an additional perspective, elevating it beyond just a personal memoir. You aren’t just sharing your story; you’re offering readers hope drawn from the Bible and contemporary studies. Your book transcends a mere memoir; you’ve included passages from the Bible, current research, and recommendations on how and where to seek help when dealing with similar trauma.

We live in a culture that prizes self-sufficiency. When we say “we live in a culture that prizes self‑sufficiency,” we mean that modern society tends to celebrate independence—the ability to rely on yourself, to solve problems alone, and to appear strong, capable, and in control.
In this mindset, needing help can feel like failure. Success is measured by personal achievement, not shared support. From early education to career paths, we’re taught that the ideal person is confident, resourceful, and autonomous—someone who “needs nothing from anyone.”
Christ built on dependence: trusting in grace rather than proving worth, leaning into community rather than isolation, and admitting need rather than pretending perfection. So the concept of self-reliance and genuine maturity requires humble dependence.
Victorious...My Conversations with God is knowing "you need, and allowing that connection—human and divine—to sustain you." You are not alone.
